A Note of Thanks for National Caregivers Day

Today is a meaningful day for me and all my colleagues here at Baxter: National Caregivers Day. This is a day to celebrate those amongst us who care for our most vulnerable (and we all may be in that vulnerable group at some point).

National Caregivers Day was founded in 2015 by Providers Association for Home Health & Hospice Agencies (PAHHHA), and it was first observed in 2016.¹ Celebrated on the third Friday of February, it is a day to honor the healthcare professionals providing round-the-clock services in safe environments like hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospice care and even at home.¹

Of course, there are many types of caregivers. Those who care for family members. Those who care for children at home, in childcare settings and at school. But today I’d like to focus on the healthcare professionals we at Baxter are lucky to work with every day — and especially those who are, too often, undervalued and overlooked.

Doctors and nurses face no shortage of challenges. Yet in the midst of high patient loads, staffing shortages and more, you show up every day to care for those who need it. So today and every day, we see you, healthcare professionals — and we thank you.

For giving us your best when we are at our worst.

For answering every patient request with patience and compassion.

For the countless unseen tasks that make care happen.

For noticing the small changes that can mean the difference between recovery and decline.

For devoting time to professional development, upholding the highest levels of quality and professionalism.

For all this and so much more, we see you. We thank you. We celebrate you. And we pledge to continue devoting our energy and innovation to lightening your load and enhancing your impact. Caregivers like you are at the heart of what we do, and I hope you feel that every time you use our products.

To all the caregivers out there, my most sincere thanks.
