It is critical for healthcare facilities to continue to provide care for all patients, irrespective of COVID-19 infection status, at the appropriate level (e.g., home-based care, outpatient, urgent care, emergency room, or hospitalization). Facilities may need to respond to a surge in patients requiring care. Concentrated efforts will be required to mobilize all aspects of healthcare to reduce transmission of disease, direct people to the right level of care, and decrease the burden on the healthcare system.

The cleaning products and procedures provided in product documentation should be followed to clean and disinfect surfaces. Healthcare providers may consider cleaning surfaces more often. Attached is a more detailed letter outlining our cleaning recommendations but you may also want to check with your local Hillrom representative for further information specific to your country or region.

Our on-site customer services have not changed, but our Canada Service Representatives are observing recommendations regarding social distancing and avoidance of large gatherings, and we follow all individual hospital guidance.  It is hard to predict the impact of COVID-19 spread but every effort will be made to meet your needs.

All Hillrom Service Representatives are informed of safety protocols, including infection control, exposure control and contamination control.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gowns, gloves and protective eye wear is made available to Hillrom Service Representatives. If a customer requires that our team members wear additional protective clothing, our Service Representative will comply with additional PPE provided by the customer.
  • In addition to our PPE measures, Hillrom is initiating additional exposure-containment measures, including social distancing, staggered shifts and reducing service touches when not necessary to support patient care. 
  • All Hillrom employees, including Hillrom Service Representatives, are required to stay home if they are showing any signs of illness.

Hillrom rental equipment is only deemed ready for patient care after undergoing thorough cleaning and disinfecting by Hillrom personnel. Hillrom uses PeridoxRTU®, a wide-spectrum disinfectant and sporicidal manufactured by Contec® Healthcare, for all routine cleaning and disinfecting needs including rental beds between patient use. To date, the U.S. has not taken any specific action on Hillrom products that are currently sold internationally but manufactured in the USA. Supporting hospitals and health systems through this crisis is the focus of every single employee right now. The company relies on a global supply chain and has a balanced global manufacturing footprint, with manufacturing facilities located in Europe, Asia, Mexico and the USA.
